Boiler Services

Boiler Services on Vancouver Island, BC

Different from furnaces, which produces forced air heat, boilers use wet heat in the form of steam or hot water to warm your home. This steam or water is sent through a network of pipes that run throughout your house. Archie Johnstone Plumbing & Heating has more than 6 decades of experience in installing, servicing and replacing boilers, so if yours is suddenly not performing to its normal standards, our technicians will diagnose the issue and make the necessary repairs so that your boiler is running efficiently as quickly as possible.

Boiler Installation & Replacement

If you are considering replacing your residential boiler there are a few things that should be considered prior to making a purchase.

Efficiency vs Lifespan: There are 2 common type of residential boilers on the market: Gas & Electric. Gas boilers generally will last a few years longer than electric. A condensing gas boiler can be up to 18% more efficient than a non condensing gas boiler but will have a shorter lifespan. If you are unsure as to which boiler will be most efficient for your home give us a call & and talk to one of our experienced technicians.

Sizing: The size of your residential boiler is just as important (if not more) as its efficiency. If the boiler is too small for your home it will constantly run, costing you more on your heating bills. On the other hand, if your boiler is too large for your home, your home will heat up quickly and then shut up. As the home cools the boiler will fire back up to heat your home to the desired temperature. This constant ON/OFF can strain and/or wear out the motor and other boiler components.

When it is time to replace your residential boiler, call the boiler experts at Archie Johnstone Plumbing & Heating to discuss which boiler is best for your residential heating needs. Our technicians are trained & experienced in installing, repairing & maintaining all makes and models of residential boilers.
